Bubbling Over - Recipe by Jill Slater

Materials:

Bubbling Over
  • Roasting 'chicken' pot or decorative 'chicken or duck' pot with head of the particular animal
  • 1 brick floral foam
  • Flowers- 3 to 4 stems each of white and green button chrysanthemums, 2 to 4 stems green Fuji chrysanthemums, 4 to 6 stems white Fuji chrysanthemums, 2 stems orange daisy chrysanthemums (feel free to substitute any fall colored mums)
  • New feather duster
  • Floral preservative, knife and clippers
Directions:
Step 1 - Soak the foam in water that has been treated with floral preservative.

Step 2 - Cut the foam to fit the inside of the roaster. The floral foam, in what will become the front of the roaster, should meet the rim of the roaster. The foam in what will become the back/tail of the roaster should come up 1.5-inches higher than the rim of the roaster.

Step 3 - Set the top of the roaster (the head) back on the roaster (remember to set the back/tail end where the foam is higher.

Step 4 - Begin inserting the flowers and feathers-

Use the button mums in the front/breast area of the roaster, cutting the stems to about 1.5-inches in length. Insert them deeply and neatly.

Cut the Fuji and daisy mums to about 3-to 6-inches in length. Insert them as tail feathers, fluffy and sassy.

Cut up the new feather duster and insert several longer feathers into the tail and side areas as compliments to the flowers.
